The upgrade from cut and slit to pockets makes changing plants much easier
The Perez Art Museum (PAMM) in Miami boasts the famous living columns created by Patric Blanc, which needed a solution for dripping and other maintenance issues. Brightview Landscaping Miami turned to Florafelt Pockets for the answer. These structures required a revolutionary idea, and we developed a flexible planting pocket for curved and other dimensional surfaces.
The artistic vision was instantly restored after planting the first of three test columns.Since changing plants is as easy as slipping them in and out of their pockets, the column is carefully refined into a precision design that can be used on the others. One year later, the success of the Florafelt system is apparent at a glance, and reveals the dramatic beauty to come.
Our flexible planting pockets vastly expand possibilities for any challenging project. We look forward to helping you create a successful living wall where nobody thought it was possible.

Newly planted test column with Florafelt Pockets is a big improvement
October 2018: A single column is planted using Florafelt pleated pockets to offer a solution to the original installation made with the cut-and-slit felt-planted columns. The tidy and organized black pockets are already an improvement.

One year later the Florafelt Pockets test column fills In beautifully
November 2019 (a year later): The Florafelt pleated pocket test column is fully filled and grown in beautifully. This is a perfect example of how Florafelt Pleated Pockets distribute moisture and allow for easier maintenance.

What is the future for the Perez Museum Living Columns?
As soon as new funding becomes available, the old cut-and-slit columns can be updated with the Florafelt Pockets. We are excited to be a part of a solution that can make the original vision not only easier to maintain but become the glorious beauty it was intended to be.
