After a month the plants have begun to grow in nicely. As expected the grasses and Lamium are the fastest to grow and first to begin filling in.

Water conservation is essential in many places but drought tolerant plants come in a huge variety of colors and textures. Artful and exciting designs take full advantage of native species that are well-adapted to microclimates.
A planting grid is used to plan the living wall layout. Flowing patterns of colorful varieties make this a living work of art. Drought tolerant plants used for this design:
- Aeonium ‘Pinwheel’
- Acorus gramineus ‘Licorice’
- Cares Testacea ‘Prairie Fire’
- Lamium ‘White Nancy’
- Oxalis ‘Burgundy Form’
- Senecio mandraliscae
As the plants grow in they will completely cover the felt and grid. Irrigation timing will be adjusted to minimize water use for this brilliantly orchestrated design.
