Artist Sanaz Mazinani describes her vision for the project

From: http://www.sanazmazinani.com/allthatmeltsnotesfromthefuture-past

What myths will need to be created to tell the story of our current earth? What narratives will develop to explain the profound ecological changes that occurred in the first decades of the 21st century, when a society driven by technology, capital, and industrial activity transformed the planet in unprecedented ways? Where and how will these changes be documented and transmitted? Registered and made available to the historical imagination? All that Melts is one vision of that future history; not simply the image of a scientific model but a mythological space that is inhabited by the consequences of its recent past. A story of the earth as told by the culture which co-produced it. Part elegy, part warning, it is a poetic meditation on a time to be from a time that was – a geomythology for an era gone by.

Living Sign Speaks the Language of Plants

Florafelt Pocket Panels living wall by Jake Owens of Thriveroots in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Biophilic designer takes root

Jake Owens, owner of Thriveroots, a Biophilic design company in Fayetteville, Arkansas, installed a living sign made entirely of plants. Our goal is to bring the beneficial experience of nature into the modern built environment of today’s society, says Jake.

A thriving arts community comes together

The living sign project was funded by Runway Group and is located right on Walton Blvd in Bentonville at The Source AR. It is made up of 240 native perennials, grasses and sedges set up on a drip irrigation and is a pollinator’s Heaven!! Drive by and check it out if you’re in the area. It will be an ever-changing and constantly evolving living wall, changing colors with the seasons!! Mural in the background by Graham Edwards Art.

Thanks to everyone involved

“Words can’t express how excited and thankful I am to complete the first official project as a business owner and “local plant artist”!! And what a doozie of a project it has been!! For quite some time I was unhappy with life, work, finances and other things, and it took me the better part of 3 years to finally make the decision to leave the career I had worked so hard to obtain and had been with for 8 years…but it has hands down been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Venturing into the unknown can sometimes be a difficult decision, especially when you encounter a global pandemic the 1st month into entrepreneurship, but my gosh I’ve had so much incredible support from friends and loved ones, and I thank you all so much for that and helping this come to fruition. This project has been fun, stressful, and just a constant string of emotions, but with a little help from my friends…it is complete!! Special thanks to Nathan Crouch, Derek Hillyer, Jeff Starling for helping make dreams come true and to Dove Nicole and Lynne Cooper for their constant support…I couldn’t have done it without you all! Don’t ever let anyone tell you not to chase your dreams or that what you want to do is silly or “not lucrative”. If there’s something calling you…follow that calling, even if it is faint. DO WHAT YOU LOVE!!”

Architectural-grade Florafelt Pro System

Green wall expert and designer Christine Dunckley chose the Florafelt Pro System to transform the light well into a flourishing exotic garden. After waterproofing the walls, her team installed the Florafelt Pro System and planted the grid according to her design. Because the grids easily accommodate fully grown plants, it took a single day for the team two wrap and plant an instant tropical oasis. The Florafelt Pro System provides the ultimate solution for vertical landscape artistry, with room enough for a huge variety of leafy and flowering plants. The wall evolves as it grows, weaving a rich tapestry of colors, shapes, and textures.

The perfect place to nest

They made the exciting discovery they’d provided a safe haven for a local bird family! Sheltering in the foliage, this gorgeous nest of eggs is the purest illustration of a soothing, private oasis

Florafelt Pockets Restore Living Columns at the Perez Art Museum Miami

Florafelt Flex Pockets for Perez Museum Miami living columns by Patric Blanc new felt and replant by Brightview Landscape Miami.

The upgrade from cut and slit to pockets makes changing plants much easier

The Perez Art Museum (PAMM) in Miami boasts the famous living columns created by Patric Blanc, which needed a solution for dripping and other maintenance issues. Brightview Landscaping Miami turned to Florafelt Pockets for the answer. These structures required a revolutionary idea, and we developed a flexible planting pocket for curved and other dimensional surfaces.

The artistic vision was instantly restored after planting the first column.Since changing plants is as easy as slipping them in and out of their pockets, the column is carefully refined into a precision design that can be used on the others. One year later, the superiority of the Florafelt system is apparent at a glance, and reveals the dramatic beauty to come.

Our flexible planting pockets vastly expand possibilities for any challenging project. We look forward to helping you create a living wall where nobody thought it was possible.

Newly planted test column with Florafelt Pockets is a big improvement

October 2018: A single column is planted using Florafelt pleated pockets to offer a solution to the original installation made with the cut-and-slit felt-planted columns. The tidy and organized black pockets are already an improvement.

One year later the Florafelt Pockets test column fills In beautifully

November 2019 (a year later): The Florafelt pleated pocket test column is fully filled and grown in beautifully. This is a perfect example of how Florafelt Pleated Pockets distribute moisture and allow for easier maintenance.

What is the future for the Perez Museum Living Columns?

As soon as new funding becomes available, the old cut-and-slit columns can be updated with the Florafelt Pockets. We are excited to be a part of a solution that can make the original vision not only easier to maintain but become the glorious beauty it was intended to be.

Interior Plant Design Style by Living Walls Edmonton

A towering living wall for a private residence is the showstopper of three recent projects from Living Walls Edmonton. Interior Plantscape Designer Chris Myers makes a bold statement with his unbound design in a loft that soars to the second floor. Only Florafelt Pocket Panels make it possible to have such a dramatic home feature. It’s always necessary to change plants from time to time and Florafelt makes it easy. Simply remove the struggling plant by lifting if from the pocket and sliding the replacement inside, restoring the wall to full vibrancy in a matter of minutes.

The clean lines of crisp surrounds provide stylish frames for the planted units, including the show display seen here. Recessed stainless tanks for irrigation integrate seamlessly and collect runoff for maximum water conservation. Micro LED lights in the frames provide supplemental lighting but also create theatrical contrasts of greenery and shadow.

In the final new project from Chris Myers, an office project softens a casual meeting spot. The positive effects of plants in the workplace are well-known. A small living wall summons our innate human comfort with nature and inspires a spirit of collaboration and trust..
